Repo Wear Giveaway!

Yay giveaways! Now that Repo Wear has been up and running for a little while I thought it was time to celebrate with a giveaway! I'm a big fan of feedback and so I'd love to hear from elasticpantcity readers what your favorite item is in the shop. All you have to do is follow elasticpantcity with google friend connect or on Bloglovin' and leave a comment telling me your favorite piece. If you're already a follower, just leave a comment! The winner of their favorite item will be drawn at random on Friday, September 16th.

What a perfect time to post one of my new favorite Repo Wear dresses! Isn't this knit dress gorgeous? I love the simple silhouette and vibrant mix of colours. The dress has a comfortable bit of stretch too. Don't we all love a little extra room!?

Weekend Recap

Friday was the birthday of our very dear friend Sarah and we celebrated with a Mexican Fiesta! When Levi was born, Sarah was the friend who would drop by with chick flicks and keep me company while Ben worked. As a new mother, it was very calming to have a girlfriend to do regular life things with. I think it helped keep me mostly sane.

Levi only liked his mustache if he could see it in the mirror. Otherwise I'm assuming the mustache felt like a rat on his face. Ben's smile is just a little bit creepy...

The Setting. Casa de las Kneppers.

Two thumbs down to giant sombrero.

If I didn't wax this is what I'd look like (Just joking. Or am I?)

Nothing like chillin' on the back porch with friends and food.

Levi is in love with Tami. We keep telling him she's taken.

Our canine friends were excellent hosts. Josh and Tami were okay too ; )

The rest of the weekend was filled with family dinners and a big, backyard BBQ bash involving the removal of a fence, pigs and a pit. I'm wiped, but it sure was fun to party hardy!

Le Fleur

Every where I turn I'm seeing gigantic floral prints on clothing and accessories. It reminds me of a number of items I owned when I was eight. I had awesome floral print jeans and a dress with puffed sleeves that I wore to my auntie and uncle's wedding. I love flowers so why not wear them?
What do you think? Is this trend granny, or cool?

Flourishing

Lest you think my dream of a flourishing vegetable garden fell to the wayside I wanted to share some photos from our garden today.

Photobucket
The experienced gardener next door said we wouldn't be able to grow broccoli. But low and behold, check out that stalk! Broccoli is a beautiful plant, with tinged purple, gorgeous leaves. It adds wonderful colour to our garden.

Photobucket
Our cucumbers have begun to appear. For a while the stems and gigantic leaves were taking over our garden and yard. I over planted them, not trusting that a single seed could produce a harvest. Next year they're going to have their own box.

Photobucket
Ha, ha. A pumpkin. Why is this funny? I never planted any pumpkins. At least not intentionally. Apparently the pumpkin seeds got mixed into my mail order of cucumber seeds. Right now the cucumbers and pumpkins are intertwined, growing together.

Photobucket
The cherry tomatoes are just ripening. The branches are so heavy with them that they're starting to collapse. I have to do some serious pruning and reinforcing or I'm worried I'll lose our crop.

Photobucket
The zucchini and beans have produced the most consistent and abundant harvest. The beans keep growing no matter how many I pick, and the zucchinis are huge! I should have measured the one in this photo because I had to hold it with two hands it was so heavy and long. It made tons of fresh zucchini sticks as well as a gigantic zucchini loaf.

I still feel like a very green gardener but I've learned some valuable lessons for growing next year. I'm also hoping to plant some fall vegetables like yams, beets and sweet potatoes.

My mom was in Oregan last week and picked up this book for me. I love reading about other urban gardeners and their experiences. Helen Babbs writes beautifully and a cup of tea on the front deck, overlooking my garden, with her book in hand is a perfect summer evening!

Sugary Goodness

Today I had a great blog post planned out. Last night I made delicious Homemade Oreos. They turned out perfect and I was excited to take a picture and show that my baking skills are improving. I gave most of them away except one. I told Ben, "You can have that last cookie, but only after I take a picture tomorrow morning (I know Ben is a grown man; the reminder is still necessary)." Sweet Ben has been getting up with Levi every morning and letting me sleep in. This sometimes means he wanders around in a daze. That lone Oreo cookie was sitting on a plate in the kitchen, tempting him with it's sugary goodness all morning. Ben forgot my admonishment and chomped the cookie down.

Regardless, I still want to share the recipe with you. Here's a lovely picture of the Oreos from Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Since I didn't have a baking post I was motivated to edit more photos from my Repo Wear shoot with Tami and Sarah. Tami styled up a handful of pieces on the mannequin. It's amazing how a few simple accessories can make an outfit!

Playing Dress-Up

I had a fabulous girls' afternoon on Monday! Ben took Levi on a bike ride while Sarah, Tami and I worked on styling pieces for Repo Wear.

Tami recently quit her job as a merchandiser for Urban Outfitters and is a pro at pulling together entire outfits. She lugged over containers full of accessories and graciously modeled clothes for our little photo shoot. Sarah was our DJ and director. I snapped photos and ooh'd and ahh'd over Tami's picks. It's the first time I've seen items from my shop on any thing but a mannequin! I loved seeing my vision turned to reality in how Tami styled each piece. More than all that, I was so happy to spend quality time with two of my favorite girls!

Check out all the labelled items in my store!

Weekend Recap

Photobucket

This weekend was full of adventure for our little boy. We visited Maple Wood Farm with his grandparents and Levi was thrilled to commune with the animals face to face.

His favorite part about the goats was watching them poo pebbles. Him and all the other kids.

A friend gave us free tickets to the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival at Deer Lake Park.

Levi was weary of the crowds at first but eventually started to let loose. He found a great dance partner. A woman whose husband refused to dance with her. Her husband was equally grateful.

Cute dress. I'm easily distracted.

We also attended the annual neighborhood pig roast. Although there was no pig. It was smoked salmon instead. However, there was still the gigantic pig made of flowers.

We ended the weekend with dinner at a lovely friends' house. Ben and I love practicing hospitality but when we get invited somewhere else it is a real treat.

A full fabulous weekend!
